Day 01: Fly Kathmandu – Pokhara – Jomsom – Drive to Ghami (3,520 m) via Chungsi Cave

Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara and continue by scenic flight to Jomsom, the gateway to the Upper Mustang region. From Jomsom, drive through the dramatic Kali Gandaki Valley toward Ghami. Along the way, visit the sacred Chungsi Cave, a meditation cave associated with Guru Rinpoche. Overnight in Ghami.

Day 02: Trek Ghami – Tsarang (3,560 m)

Begin trekking through the rugged landscapes of Upper Mustang. The trail crosses dry hills, ancient villages, and traditional Tibetan-style settlements before reaching Tsarang. Explore the historic Tsarang Monastery and the remains of the old palace while enjoying views of the surrounding Mustang cliffs. Overnight in Tsarang.

Day 03: Trek Tsarang – Lo Manthang (3,840 m) via Ghar Gompa

Today’s trail leads toward the legendary walled city of Lo Manthang. En route, visit Ghar Gompa, one of the oldest monasteries in Mustang, known for its ancient Buddhist paintings and religious significance. Continue across the high desert landscape to Lo Manthang, the cultural heart of Upper Mustang. Overnight in Lo Manthang.

Day 04: Explore Choser Valley

Spend the day exploring the fascinating Choser Valley, famous for its ancient caves, monasteries, and traditional villages. Visit the remarkable Jhong Cave and other historic cave dwellings carved into the cliffs. This is also an excellent opportunity to experience the unique Tibetan-influenced culture and architecture of Upper Mustang. Overnight in Lo Manthang.

Day 05: Trek Lo Manthang – Yara (3,650 m)

Leave Lo Manthang and trek through remote Himalayan terrain toward Yara. The trail passes dramatic barren cliffs, deep valleys, and traditional settlements that reflect the ancient lifestyle of Mustang. Yara is known for its impressive landscape and centuries-old caves carved into the surrounding cliffs. Overnight in Yara.

Day 06: Excursion to Luri Gompa – Trek to Tangge (3,370 m)

Take an excursion to Luri Gompa, one of the most important and spectacular cave monasteries in Upper Mustang. After exploring the monastery and surrounding cliffs, continue trekking toward Tangge. The route offers striking views of Mustang’s rugged desert-like landscape before reaching the traditional village of Tangge. Overnight in Tangge.

Day 07: Trek Tangge – Tetang (3,040 m)

Today is a challenging but rewarding trekking day as you leave Tangge and follow the remote trail toward Tetang. Cross barren valleys and mountain passes while enjoying the dramatic scenery of the Upper Mustang wilderness. Gradually descend toward Tetang, a beautiful village surrounded by red and brown cliffs. Overnight in Tetang.

Day 08: Trek Tetang – Muktinath (3,760 m)

Trek from Tetang toward the sacred pilgrimage site of Muktinath. The trail climbs through the rugged landscape of Mustang before reaching Muktinath, a revered destination for both Hindus and Buddhists. Visit the Muktinath Temple area and enjoy views of the surrounding Himalayas. Overnight in Muktinath.

Day 09: Trek Muktinath – Lubra Bon Village – Jomsom (2,720 m)

Descend toward Jomsom through the remote Bon village of Lubra. Known for its Bon religious heritage and traditional architecture, Lubra offers a fascinating cultural experience away from the main trekking route. Continue toward Jomsom through the Kali Gandaki Valley. Overnight in Jomsom.

Day 10: Fly Jomsom – Pokhara – Kathmandu – International Departure

Take the morning flight from Jomsom to Pokhara, followed by a connecting flight to Kathmandu. Depending on your international flight schedule, transfer to the airport for your onward journey. Your Upper Mustang trekking adventure comes to an end with unforgettable memories of Mustang’s ancient culture, monasteries, caves, and Himalayan landscapes.
